The Custody teaser, which debuted last night, is intriguing and enticing. The gripping thriller seems to be the account of a police officer who will stop at nothing to find the truth and uphold justice. Against the wishes of his own department as a whole, he decides to take on the duty of bringing a notorious criminal who has been arrested before the court.

While the clip seems to be compelling and tight, the overall tone looks to be reminiscent of two cult hollywood films. They are "Assault on Precinct 13" starring Ethan Hawke and "16 Blocks" starring Bruce Willis. In the narrative "Assault At Precinct 13," a police officer is pitted against senior police officers who are attempting to murder a gangster who is being held in the precinct on New Year's Eve.

Similar circumstances are shown in Bruce Willis' "16 Blocks," in which a cop who is about to retire is assigned the difficult duty of bringing an accused person to court despite the fact that it is just 16 blocks away. In fact, Khakee, a well-known bollywood film starring akshay kumar and amitabh bachchan, follows a similar plot. Movies might be similar, therefore it would be interesting to see if this one from venkat prabhu is just a veiled reference to earlier works or if it takes whole inspiration from them. On May 12, Chay's Custody will be released. The female lead is Kriti Shetty.
