IIT Chennai's B.S. (Electronic Systems) course is poised to strengthen tamil Nadu's development in the electronics manufacturing sector, IIT chennai said.

In this regard, IIT chennai issued a statement: "IIT chennai has launched the BS course to meet the rapidly growing needs in the field of Electronics. Since it is an online course, all students can avail it equally. Anyone who has passed 12th with Physics and Mathematics can apply irrespective of age, occupation and location. Course content, exercises, doubt solving sessions, assignments will be conducted online. Question-answers, exams, lab classes will be conducted in person. Lab classes are held directly on the IIT chennai campus.

According to the 'Tamil Nadu Electronics and Hardware Manufacturing Policy' published by the government of tamil Nadu's industry Guidance Institute, a target has been set to increase tamil Nadu's electronics industry production to 100 billion dollars by 2025 and to provide 25 percent of India's total electronics exports to the world by 2025.

BS (Electronic Systems) graduates have the fundamentals and By developing the skills, one can make a significant contribution as an electronic or embedded system design and development engineer in industries such as motor vehicles, consumer electronics, mobile phones, medical electronics, defense sector etc.

B.S. Talking about the internship opportunities for (Electronic Systems) students, Prof. Andrew Thangaraj said, “Students can get internships and apprenticeships in various companies, work on projects for practical life, and thereby gain an understanding of how the industry works.

These internships can be done in-person, offline or a combination of both with stipends ranging from 2 to 8 months. Loans are provided to students based on employment oriented training. "When the students undergo internal training, they are absorbed by the institution and can better shape their future development," he said.

The curriculum aligns with the india Semiconductor Mission's goal of making india a global hub for electronics manufacturing and design. Semiconductor industry has emerged as one of the most important industries. The sector is the largest contributor to the global economy and generates billions of dollars in revenue every year.

Explaining how to get admission in the course, professor Bobby George, Faculty, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT chennai and Coordinator, BS Electronic Systems Course, IIT chennai said, "Admission for the course has an inclusive eligibility procedure. JEE is not required for admission.

Candidates applying for this will be taught the content for four weeks by IIT chennai teachers. The qualifying examination will be conducted entirely on the basis of those subjects only. During this period the candidates will be encouraged in the form of discussion forum, live sessions etc. The program has various exit levels like Foundation Certificate, Diploma, BS Degree,” he said.

Explaining about the course, IIT Chennai's Department of Electrical Engineering teacher, IIT Chennai's B.S. Electronic Systems Curriculum Coordinator professor S. Anirudhan said, "The syllabus is tough but flexible. students will be guided continuously throughout the syllabus to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills. Since the subjects are taught from the basic level, there are ways to learn effectively in various ways like live sessions to clarify doubts, expert sessions and discussions".
