The average daily traffic on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway increased significantly in the third quarter of the fiscal year 2023-2024, according to a recent financial report provided by GMR Power and Urban Infra Ltd. (GPUIL). The survey found that the average daily traffic on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route grew by 5.9 percent year on year (YoY) from october to december 2023.

GMR Infrastructure Limited and a consortium won the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway project on a Build, Operate, and Transfer (Toll) basis in an international competitive bidding procedure. Further study in the paper revealed a consistent increase in average daily traffic on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route during the fiscal year 2023-2024. Between april 1, 2023, and december 31, 2023 (MFY24), average daily traffic increased by 4.9% year on year.

The financial report also described the economic impact of the increased traffic. In the third quarter of the fiscal year 2023-2024, the total income earned by the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway was Rs 1,222 million. Concurrently, the average daily traffic count reached 24.3 thousand vehicles, demonstrating a steady flow of commuters and products along the road.
