Since 1988, World aids Day is celebrated on 1 december every year. Its purpose is to raise awareness of the aids epidemic caused by the spread of hiv infection.

This day is to create awareness about this disease for a healthy and happy life. 


World aids Day World health Day by the World health Organization (WHO), World Blood Donor Day, World Immunization Week, World tuberculosis Day, World No Tobacco Day, World Malaria Day, World Hepatitis Day, World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, World Patient Safety Day and is one of 11 official global public health campaigns marked with World Chagas Disease Day.

World aids Day brings together people from around the world to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and to demonstrate international solidarity in the face of the pandemic. 


HIV remains a major public health issue affecting millions of people worldwide. According to the latest figures from the World health Organization, 377 million people were living with aids in 2020. 

16% of all people living with hiv did not know they had hiv in 2020. 73 per cent had access to antiretroviral therapy in 2020.


Initially, World aids Day was associated with only children and youth, but later it was found that hiv infection can affect a person of any age. 


After this, in the year 1996, the United Nations on HIV/AIDS started working on communication, prevention and education under the World aids Campaign in the year 1997, taking care of its promotion and dissemination at the global level.
