These are the words of a doctor in gandhi Hospital who narrated the experience of him and his colleagues as life saviours of hundreds of COVID-19 patients in gandhi Hospital. It is known that each and every doctor who are working, treating and fighting against Corona are keeping their lives at stake, and even some of them are losing their lives.
They start their day with fear as they came out of their isolated rooms in the house in a doubt if they had possible made their near and dear infected with their presence in the house all night. Later they build up courage to face the invisible enemy for the sake of the whole nation and to live up to their professional pledge.
The doctors were these PPE kits which are nothing less but Rice bags that drain sweat out of you. Now, from this very point, the most irritable minutes of their lives being exhausted with higher temperatures and getting dehydrated within minutes. But, they never complained.
In that position, they take the vitals of the patients who are 80-100 per one wing and for one doctor it takes 3 hours to complete his quota in that torturous PPE attire. Yet, they don’t complain. Later they follow up X-Rays, conduct good tests, other lab investigations for more accuracy and spend about 12 hrs on a trot without any lapse in the attention until they get out of the hospital some where in the midnight greeting their colleagues with smile who are up for the night shift. Yet, they never complain.
But, when a patient dies with co-morbid conditions which a very fatal and the person whose life is nearly impossible to get saved, the relatives attack the doctors who are working selflessly by risking their lives for out own well-being. Yet, we complain and comment on them. But, they can’t combat for their rights?
