DNA VERIFIED: Right before the announcement of the lok sabha elections, prime minister Narendra Modi's government has implemented the citizenship amendment act (CAA) in the country. Despite getting green signal from the President after Parliament, this law was still pending. Now deciding its process, the central government has implemented it before the next lok sabha elections (Lok Sabha elections 2024), which is being considered as a game changer. However, many opposition parties have started opposing the law claiming it is anti-Muslim.

What is CAA?

The central government had amended the citizenship law for people who came to india as refugees from neighboring countries pakistan, bangladesh and Afghanistan. In this amendment, provision has been made to grant indian citizenship to religious minority refugees from these three countries i.e. Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Jain, Buddhist etc. through the fastest and shortest process. Due to the fact that Muslims are the majority in these 3 countries, they are not included in its ambit. This is why opposition parties and Muslim organizations are calling it anti-Muslim.

The Modi government on monday issued a notification to implement the provisions of the CAA. This was presented as breaking news by a gulf news channel Al-Jazeera on its handle, in which it wrote, india has implemented the 'anti-Muslim' Citizenship Law 2019 a few weeks

After this, it has also been said that the citizenship of indian citizens of any religion will not be revoked through CAA. It is not against any one religion or community. The government has also made it clear that this is a law to grant citizenship to oppressed and tortured minorities in neighboring countries. These countries include Afghanistan, pakistan and Bangladesh.
