The rising prices of food items, vegetables and water have come as a shock due to the heavy rains. 


Uttarakhand has been experiencing heavy rains for the past three days. nainital received 535 mm of rain in the last 24 hours due to the cloudburst, which shocked the entire country. This is said to be the highest rainfall in India.

More than 60 people have been killed in floods and landslides caused by torrential rains. Rescue efforts are underway to rescue people trapped in the floods.


Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has warned that the rain will continue for the next 36 hours. Thus the Disaster Rescue Troops are intensifying precautionary measures.


Temporary camps have been set up at various places to house the public. There are four Hindu holy places in the state, namely Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. Thousands of devotees visit Sami Darshan here daily. Pilgrimage has been temporarily banned due to heavy rains.

Pricing of essential commodities

Those who have already started the pilgrimage have been asked to stay nearby. Floods in various parts of the state have made markets and shops inaccessible. As a result, there is a shortage of goods and prices have skyrocketed. It has been reported that a bottle of water sells for 200 rupees in some parts of the state.


Meals are also said to sell for Rs 500 and a kilo of tomatoes for Rs 150. prime minister Modi has told chief minister Pushkar Singh to provide all necessary assistance to the state of uttarakhand in this regard. According to reports, prime minister Modi is planning to visit flood-hit uttarakhand soon.
