Actor Vijay concealing of salary..!? Income Tax Department...

Actor Vijay was fined Rs 1.50 crore by the Income Tax Department after finding that he did not show the salary of Rs 15 crore received for the film Puli in his income tax return. When actor Vijay filed his income tax return for the last financial year 2016-17, he said that he received Rs 35 crore 42 lakh 91 thousand 890 as income for that year. Subsequently, the Income Tax Department, which conducted the assessment for that year, conducted a search at actor Vijay's house in 2015.
A comparison of the documents seized during the raid revealed that the Rs 15 crore salary received by Puli for the film was not shown in the income tax returns. Actor Vijay was subsequently fined Rs 1.50 crore for concealing his income. The Income Tax Department issued this order on june 30. Actor Vijay filed a petition against this order of the Income Tax Department in the madras High Court. If there was a penalty, the Income Tax Department should have issued an order in 2019 itself. It was mentioned in the petition filed by Vijay that this order issued belatedly should be canceled. The petition came up for hearing today. Judge Anita Sumanth, who heard the case, imposed an interim stay on the order issued by the Income Tax Department imposing a fine of Rs 1.50 crore on actor Vijay. Further, the judge ordered the Income Tax Department to respond to this petition by september 16 and adjourned the hearing for that day.
