The IT dept. issued a letter to a rickshaw puller, requesting him to pay almost Rs 3 crore in tax to the organisations for a firm that he didn't own any, despite the fact that he came from a low-income family. Pratap Singh, a rickshaw driver from amar Colony in UP received a notification from the IT department demanding that he pay Rs 3,47,54,896 in taxes. He was stunned and uncomfortable when the IT department wanted such a large sum of money. Singh, puzzled by the notification, filed an official complaint with the police, alleging fraud.

He also turned to social media and posted a video outlining the events that unfolded after he got the IT dept's notification.
Pratap Singh claimed in the clip that his banker had ordered him to apply for a PAN card on Mar 15. He went on to say that another employee at the bank gave him a coloured duplicate of the PAN card. Officials from the IT department looked into the situation further and informed Pratap Singh that somebody had snatched his identity and got a GST number using his PAN card. The impostor established a firm with a revenue of over Rs 43 cr utilizing Singh's credentials.
