Unless it's an extravagant big-budget event like RRR, kgf, or the Marvel series, the average moviegoer isn't in the mood to go out, find a nearby theatre, and watch a movie. Instead of purchasing a cinema ticket, the public is willing to wait a few weeks and view a movie on the OTT platform. Most of the families are not ready to spend 1000 Rupees just for a movie which is receiving mixed reviews and responses.

RRR and kgf have raised the bar too high, and substandard films like acharya and sarkaru vaari paata no longer attract audiences. Even the biggest celebrities can no longer attract crowds. These are trying times for the film industry, as films continue to fail week after week, as is the case in all industries.

Ticket prices have also increased by 30-40% on average compared to the price they were paying prior to the pandemic, which is driving audiences away. The public is willing to pay such a high price for expensive cinematic films, but it becomes an issue for regular films, and the public believes it is not worth paying unless the picture receives favourable press and they can see it for free on OTT after a few weeks. This issue is quite concerning, and it has caused fear among the stars and producers.
