Sophie Michelle Ellis-Bextor is an english singer, songwriter, and model. She rose to popularity as the lead vocalist of the indie rock band The audience in the late 1990s. She has come up about being raped by an older musician when she was 17 years old.

The singer claims she lost her virginity in an event at the residence of a 29-year-old musician in her new biography, Spinning Plates. She remembers saying no and stating that she did not want it, but it made no difference. She recalls feeling guilty after he had sex with her. It was the manner in which she had lost her virginity, and she felt foolish about it.

She felt terrible, but she was not sure what she was experiencing because she had not had any previous experiences to compare it to. Ellis-Bextor recalls meeting the musician, whom she refers to as Jim, during a show while studying for her A-Levels.

"Before I knew it, we were on his bed, and he pulled off my underpants," he said, inviting her back to his home to examine his history books.
According to Ellis-Bextor, she decided to share her own storey in order to assist others to realise "where the boundary between good and wrong lies."
