Bagger 288, a machine was erected by Krupp a German company which is used for the energy and mining establishment Rheinbraun, is a pail-spin digger mining machine.


 The world's largest Bagger 288 was constructed in 1978, Big Muskie is the heaviest land vehicle in the world, weighing 13,500 tons per vehicle.

Its height is 96 meters, and its blade capacity is 21 m in dia, with 18 buckets each holding 8.6 cubic yards.

It is now owned and operated by RWE AG, a large utility company, it is in operation with them.

Cost of the Bagger 293 

It cost around  $100 million to build,  5 years to design and manufacture, and 5 years to assemble. It can move over 8.5 million cubic feet per day. 

Where this bagger 288 is used?

The Bagger 288 is used for removing the hard land before coal mining at the Hambach surface mine. It can shovel 240,000 tons of coal cubic meters daily –it can dig up to 30 m deep. 2400 coal carts of coal in produced in one day.
